Ibanez Mick Thomson Mahogany Electric Guitar RW
Mick???????s Legendary Crushing Tone! Mick Thompson`s crushing tone and riffing helped propel Slipknot to legendary status among metalheads worldwide, and now Ibanez offers this re-creation of his main weapon of choice! The “Mick 7″ model is based on his hot-rodded RG, complete with his preferred traits. It`s armed with a set of EMG high output pickups - an E60 at the neck position and an E81 at the bridge. A ???????Blood Red all-over finish mahogany body with a 5-piece thru body maple/walnut Wizard II neck and a reverse headstock and it comes factory strung with heavier strings than your everyday RG. Why? It`s factory-tuned to B/F#/B/E/G#/C#, just like Mick does. An EdgeFX locking fixed bridge with fine tuners and locking nut provides sustain, simplicity, and double locking stability. The Bridge design looks similar to a ???????set-in Floyd but upon closer inspection you can see it is bolted to the body. The body is routed on the top only since there are no springs or trem block or place to attach a tremolo bar. The bridge is essentially a machined cast-metal block with Floyd type locking string saddles and fine tuners. Features: 5-piece thru-body Maple/Walnut Wizard II neck, 24 jumbo-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with “seven” inlays, and a mahogany body. Thompson is known as # 7 in the band. Before Slipknot, Mick was in the band Body Pit with former Slipknot members Anders Colsefini, Donnie Steele and current bassist Paul Gray. Mick Thompson generally never played any solos in any of Slipknot`s material until the band`s most recent album, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). This is because the band`s previous producer of the `Slipknot` and `Iowa` albums, Ross Robinson, disallowed the use of guitar solos. In fact, he and drummer Jordison removed all of the solos from the self-titled album in the production stages. Robinson claims in Total Guitar that he banned solos because he thought they were irrelevant and would not fit in with the music that Slipknot were playing; however, he has often been accused of disallowing them just to fit in with the nu-metal sub-genre he helped to create in the mid to late `90s.
